Chartered Accountancy course is very much in demand among commerce students. Although this course is a primary career choice of students belonging to the commerce stream, its not just students belonging to commerce stream but students of other streams also can be seen pursuing CA. CA offers great future prospects. Once you become a qualified CA you can either opt for some high paying job or you can even start your own practice. So all these benefits associated with this profession makes it a highly popular course. Every year lacs of students dream of becoming a CA but very few are able to realize their dream. As the pass percentage in CA is very low, this is the main reason this course is considered as one of the toughest courses in our country.

Chartered Accountancy comprises of three exams. One is the entrance exam known as CA Foundation (earlier CPT), once you clear CA Foundation you can register yourself for the subsequent level of this course i.e., CA  Intermediate. After clearing single or both groups of CA Intermediate, the student can register for articleship which is a mandatory practical training in CA course which you are supposed to do under a practicing CA. After clearing both the groups of CA Intermediate one can register for CA Final which is the last stage of CA Course.

The average duration of the CA course is of 4 years that too if you clear all it’s level in one go. CA is not a tough course if done with proper planning and guidance. The initial level of this course is easy to clear as compared to the other two levels of this course. The initial level is partially subjective and partially objective. Whereas the other two levels are purely subjective.

If you are sure and confident in your mind of becoming a CA then you must do a long  term planning of how you are going to prepare for each of its levels, what all resources you will be requiring, How much time is to be devoted for the preparation of every exam, where to get proper guidance from. All these factors need due attention.

Now let’s talk about the initial level of this course the CA Foundation. A student can give the CA Foundation exam after appearing for 12th Boards exam. The syllabus of this exam is similar to that of the syllabus of class 12th commerce. So students belonging to commerce stream usually do not find passing this exam difficult. For a strong foundation and if you want to clear the exam in the first attempt with good marks it is better to start preparing for this exam from class 11th itself as the course is very much similar to the syllabus of class 11th and 12th commerce stream, students need not give extra attention for its preparation and can easily prepare for the same along with the regular studies. Once you are done with the course do not forget to practice previous year question papers which will help you judge your performance and have an idea of the level of questions being asked in the examination. If you prepare in this manner you will be able to get through the exam easily that too with flying colors.

Once you have cleared the CA Foundation exam, the next comes the CA Intermediate exam. You get a preparation time period of nine months between CA Foundation and CA Intermediate exam. Between this period you are required to appear in small training programs conducted by ICAI. The Intermediate exam comprises of two groups. To move to the final level of this course you are required to clear both the groups of the Intermediate stage. As intermediate is comparatively tough when compared with the entrance exam of the CA. Students generally struggle to clear this stage in a single attempt and even giving attempt after attempt when they are not able to clear the exam it induces a sense of depression in them. So always focus on clearing the exam in the first attempt and for proper and systematic guidance you can opt for some well-reputed CA coaching institute in India who can guide you in the best way possible.

After clearing the Intermediate level of the CA course students can register for CA Final exam. A student has to do a compulsory articleship which is practical training under a practicing CA for a period of three years. As a student has to manage a lot many things in this span of three, focused and systematic planning is very important. You are required to study consistently for 3 years for CA Final exam in order to clear the exam in the first attempt to save yourself from the vicious cycle of attempts after attempts. Like discussed above CA is not a tough exam all this requires from you is your hard work, dedication, and determination. If you are ready for these you won’t find Chartered Accountancy Tough.
