SaaS, PaaS and IaaS

What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?

The other known term for Software as a Service is cloud application services, and it is one of the most common options for business and trading in the cloud market. The Software as a Service delivers applications with the help of the internet.

The delivered applications by Software as a Service are generally run and managed by a vendor who is an alien to the internal process of the development and is also known as the third-party vendor for the benefits of its users and so that the process can be run smoothly.

Saas applications are beneficial and easy to use because they mainly function directly through the web browser, which means there is no requirement for any installation or download. It makes the work a lot easier and also barely requires any separate space to function. One of the examples of Saas is dropbox. Cisco Webex etc.

What are the uses of Saas?

Saas is one of the most common and widely used options for businesses as it is straightforward to use and is low maintenance.

It can come in handy at various places and situations, some of which are as mentioned below:

  1. Saas can be effectively used for a startup company that has recently launched, and they are in a hurry to bring their eCommerce into the market. During such times, the people have very little time in their hands, and they cannot afford to waste their time on software or server issues.
  2. Projects that are not for the long run and in which not much can be invested require a fast, easy, and affordable collaboration.
  3. Saas can also be used for applications that require web and mobile accessibility simultaneously, and it can also be used for applications that are rarely required.

What is Platform as a Service (PaaS)?

The Platform as a Service is commonly known as Cloud platform Services. It is very famous in the market for the production of various cloud components for some specific software. However, it is primarily used for applications while they are in use.

Platform as a Service is known for having a unique framework delivered for the creators and developers. It is using this framework that the developers create their customized applications.

Platform as a Service helps the developer create and deliver simple cloud-based applications and allows them to come up with their very own unique application, and makes the very process easier on the part of the developer. Some of the examples of PaaS are Windows Azure, Google App Engine, etc.

What are the uses of Paas?

PaaS comes in very handy in most cases, and also, in specific scenarios, it becomes mandatory to have an application of PaaS. PaaS can be utilized in many situations, and the processing can also be made easier with its application.

One such instance is when too many developers are invested and working on a similar development project. It is beneficial to use PaaS as it streamlines the workflow. Using PaaS for multiple working processes can be helpful since it provides a high speed, no interruption service and is also very flexible, which makes the work p[rocess easier.

Despite all of these, the primary function and use of PaaS is for the development and the work processing of customized applications.

What is Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)?

The Infrastructure as a service is known as Cloud Infrastructure Services in other terms and mostly goes by the latter in the market. The Infrastructure as a Service consists of resources that are intensely scalable and are generally a compute that is automated.

The Infrastructure as a Service is generally for a personal service purpose. It is better at helping and assisting in the access o a personal computer or, say, a monitoring computer and other such services.

The Infrastructure as a Service helps in purchasing resources that are in the most demand among the customers for businesses and prevents them from getting stuff only that is required instead of having to purchase them outright from hardware. Some of the examples of IaaS are Cisco Metacloud, Amazon Web Services, etc.

What are the uses of IaaS?

There are certain situations in which neither the application of PaaS nor SaaS comes in handy. In such situations, only the IaaS can come to your rescue. Mentioned below are specific such situations wherein only IaaS comes of use and makes the work easier:

  1. IaaS comes in very handy for tiny brands and for companies that have just been established who do not have much time and money to spend on buying and developing hardware and Software for their company.
  2. Large companies who wish to keep having a similar infrastructure have their existing applications and are not willing to purchase anything more than what they will initially be requiring or running the company.
  3. Companies that are going through a good amount of growth might like the scalability feature of IaaS and might use it as per their requirement.
