1. Hello Rahul, Thank you for giving us such a great opportunity to interview you. Could you please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure. Thanks for that. I am the company founder at GyanDevign Tech Services LLP. We help small businesses and start ups with digital presence- making websites and eCommerce stores. We just don’t do template based sites or take references from here or there. Our approach is content driven design that makes us stand out from the crowd.
2. Please share something about GyanDevign Tech Services, when you started and what are your plans.
I registered my company in Sep 2019 and started operations on Jan ’20. I have worked for product and service businesses. One thing that saddest me the most is the kind of wrong advice and lack of support given to new or existing customers. This prompted me to start a service based business that focuses on help, not hype.
3. What challenges did you face initially?
When you start, no one knows you, nor do you have the money to invest in marketing. So, for the 1st year, I did multiple things. From onboarding contractors to content strategy, pre-sales activity and lead generation.
Along with that, I was blessed with a baby boy during mid 2020. There were additional responsibilities. Thankfully, my spouse is working, so we could manage finances. There were months that I had no income. I did not stop investing in content and SEO and now I am seeing the efforts with increased rankings and few leads coming in each week. It’s a start on the right track.
4. Why should any organization choose an agency instead of the inhouse team for any kind of work such as SEO or Website Development
The question is important to the company head who wants to make the decision. If you’re willing to invest resources and build a team, you should do that. However, at a lesser cost, you can outsource your work that is not your core business and free up your time to market your business.
You need to set the scope of work and clear expectations from day one. Most companies and or agency owners do not do that. This results in conflicts and a bad experience.
5. As we all know that every company’s target is to make their customers/clients happy. According to you, what are the best ways to improve Customer Experience?
You need to understand their needs and check if you both are the right fit or not. So far, I have few customers, but they are satisfied. Why? Because I never discomfited nor sold anything that we cannot deliver.
Its better to work with 10 clients than chase 100’s of those in the market
6. How do you manage to balance your work and personal life?
I have a set time for work and for my family I start my work around 11 AM in the morning and close at 6-6.30 PM. The rest of the time goes to taking care of the kid, home and spending time with my caring spouse.
If I don’t set the work ethics now, I know, clients will take you for a ride and you have to compromise on quality of life.
7. What motivates and inspires you. Would you like to name a personality that you follow and has been your role model?
I believe in Almighty and daily prayers and meditation do help in creating a strong mind. Moreover, I like the teachings of Vivekananda Ji, Chanakya and APJ Kalam.
I feel Ratan Tata/Narayan Moorthy are industry veterans we can learn from…
8. One piece of advice that you would like to give to those who aspire to become an entrepreneur.
Don’t jump as a fad to showcase your network. if you have savings, a plan, only then start your company. Otherwise, it’s better to do a job and work on a side income. Keep working on ideas and test them. I had to start my own business because I lost my job and after working for 10 years, I felt it’s time I needed to do something on my own.
Even, I had plans to continue with a job and work on side income. But life had other plans. So, you need to mould yourself to become GOLD.
It was such a pleasure talking to you and thanks for giving us your time. Requesting to Dailyscrawl readers can follow Rahul Gulati on LinkedIn.
